Beautiful Eleuthera beaches are found on every part of this Bahamas island. Tourist will find mile after mile of pristine sand and ocean every where one looks. These sandy stretches of beach are some of the main reasons visitors come to the Bahamas island of Eleuthera. Many Eleuthera beaches are kissed with crystal clear, bright turquoise, shallow water extending for hundreds of yards out to sea, rising gently to sandbars before finally dropping into the deep. Ben Bay Beach

The Eluethera island known as Horseshoe-shaped Ben Bay beach simply could not nicer than it is. The narrow opening to Ben Bay beach provides significant protection for the beach. Even when the ocean is rough, the water in the Ben Bay beach stays calm. Swimming here is great. The ocean water is clear and calm and the bottom of Ten Bay beach is sandy and even. Be sure to bring your snorkel gear along. You can stay inside the bay and snorkel the rocky areas that protect Ben Bay beach.

Gaulding Cay Beach

The Eleuthera island beach known as Gaulding Cay beach is a great place to come for a picnic and a day of swimming, snorkeling and relaxing. The sand is soft, smooth and powdery and the water between the beach and the little island -- called a "cay" -- is so shallow that you can even walk out to it at low tide. You'll find good snorkeling around the rocky areas and around the large rock out in the water.

Harbour Island Beach

Sometimes called "Three Mile Beach" or "Pink Sand Beach", this gorgeous beach is world-famous. In fact, Forbes Magazine called it "...the most gorgeous beach in the world...". It is the main attraction of this small 3 mile long cay off North Eleuthera. Even though it is so well-known, it never even comes close to being crowded, because the beach is so long, and so wide. In addition, the entry to the water is pristine, and completely sandy, with no drop-offs. And the sand is hard-packed, making it great for jogging.

Lighthouse Beach

A long wide pink sand beach, Lighthouse beach is said to be one of the best in Eleuthera. And one of its advantages is that you will find large shaded areas amongst the cliffs. Towards the end of your trip to Lighthouse Beach, you'll see a beautiful beach to your right. Don't mistake it for Lighthouse Beach. This is Lighthouse Bay. Once you are at the old Lighthouse, you'll see the southern most tip of Eleuthera. And just across from it are two little islands. Snorkeling around the rocks could bring unexpected pleasures. Snorkelers have seen manta rays here.

Poponi Beach

ne of Eleuthera's really great beaches is the Eleuthera island beach known as Poponi Beach ... where you'll find a few restaurants. But Poponi beach is not so well known. Ask locals where it is and they'll look puzzled at you although this beach is quite easy to find. Just like Club Med beach in Governor's Harbour, Poponi beach is on the Atlantic side. It boasts lots of trees, so there's shade when you need it. Even though Poponi is on the Atlantic side, the water remains fairly calm. So go ahead, jump in and enjoy a swim. The turquoise and blue colors of the shallow water are spectacular. And bring your snorkel gear. Check out the rocky areas but be sure to do your snorkeling on a calm day. We like Poponi beach in North Palmetto Point for long walks. At the access point turn left and go for up to 4 miles until you reach Club Med beach across from Governor's Harbour. That's how far Poponi's pink-sand beach extends north.

Rainbow Bay Beach

The Eleuthera island beach known as Rainbow Bay is probably one of the most frequently visited beaches in the area. Foreign residents owning homes in Rainbow, like to come here, so don't expect any privacy. Rainbow Bay is easily accessible and a good example of a Bahamas beach with clean, clear turquoise water that is calm and warm. Stop by this beach to swim, snorkel and just relax. This is a great swimming area. Rainbow Bay beach has a clean, white sand bottom and is shallow for a long way out. The water is always calm and welcoming. There is some good snorkeling around the larger rocks in the water and along the low cliffs.

Salt Kettle Beach

The Eleuthera island known as Salt Kettle Beach is the western most beach on North Eleuthera. Like the other north Eleutheran beaches, it can be accessed by boat or car from Harbour Island.

Spanish Wells - Northside Beach

One of the better beaches in Spanish Wells, Northside Beach is on the north side of the island.

Ten Bay Beach

If you are looking for a charming spot, the Eleuthera island beach known as Ten Bay beach will pleasantly surprise you. Particularly when the tide is low or when the sea on the Atlantic side is rough. On mornings this Ten Bay beach is naturally shaded by large casuarina trees. Ten Bay beach is a wonderful to have a picnic and a swim. The calm bay has a sandy bottom and is shallow. This really is a great place to go swimming or to learn to snorkeling. Snorkeling is good at either end of the bay where it is rocky. Some cliffs overhang the water. But how about lazing in the sun out at sea?

The Eleuthera island known as Tay Bay beach is paradise in its purest form. Like the other North Eleuthera beaches, it also can be accessed by boat or car from Harbour Island.

Twin Beach

The Eleuthera island beach known as Twin Beach is a unique, absolutely must-see beach. Access has been cut right through the cliff face and you will need to go down a couple of uneven stairs cut into the rock. The cliff overhangs the beach, so there is shade on hot, sunny days. Go around the rocks at the far end of Twin Beach and you'll discover how it got its name. Yes, there's another, similar beach extending to the North. Fascinating! This is another place you will want to bring your camera.

Twin Cove Beach

The beautiful Twin Coves in Central Eleuthera are lined with mature palm trees. Twin Cove beach offers two beaches.

Twin Sisters Beach

Although the Eleuthera island known as Twin Sisters beach is small it certainly offers great swimming, snorkeling and shelling. Twin Sisters Beach is an ideal morning beach because the lighting is beautiful and the casuarina trees are still shading the beach. Twin Sisters Beach is a great place to go swimming. The water is calm, clear and relatively shallow. The bottom is soft white sand once you get past a few rocks at the shoreline. There is some terrific snorkeling around the two big boulders - The Twin Sisters - out in the water, as well as around groups of rocks just to the north and south of the beach. This is one of the best shelling beaches on Eleuthera. Visit it during a morning when the lighting and shading are ideal.

Upper Cove Beach

The Eleuthera island known as Upper Cove Beach is near Current Settlement where scuba divers enjoy the thrill of shooting the Current Cut, a narrow opening between two islands that produces a powerful tidal current.

Whiteland Beach

The Eleuthera island beach known as Whiteland Beach is about 4 miles south of Rock Sound. It seems that the more difficult a beach is to find, the more spectacular it is. And Whiteland beach is spectacular... and the 3 miles of natural access road can be handled easily by any car. We don't mind driving this short distance slowly, for the reward more than justifies a bit of patience as you'll see in a second. The beach area is reef protected and has an even, sandy bottom. With an expanse of beach as you get it here, you could spend a lot of time swimming. At the end of the beach access road you come upon this tiny cove. And the rest of the beach stretches out on either side.

Winding Bay Beach

Winding Bay beach is protected from the Atlantic waves. It is ideal for swimming and picnicking and always has a breeze.
