Eleuthera Island and the Bahamas are very safe, with violent crime being virtually non-existent. You can feel safe driving on any road here or walking around island. Eleuthera Island & The Bahamas is a tourist location that depends heavily on having its visitors feeling safe and happy.

Tradewinds that blow almost constantly throughout Eleuthera Island and the rest of The Bahamas provide Eleuthera with a warm and pleasent climate that varies very little from one season to the next. September through May are the most refreshing time of the year with temperatures averaging between 70-75F degrees. The rest of the year is a seasonly warmer with temperatures ranging between 80 and 85 degrees.

Eleutehra & The Bahamas have a temperate climate varying from 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity in the summer to 70-80 degrees in the winter. Evening temperatures are generally cooler by 5 to 7 degrees. In the more northerly islands, winter temperatures are about 5 degrees cooler than the southern islands. Ocean surface temperatures vary between 74 degrees in February and 84 degrees in August.

Casual wear can be worn throughout the year on Eleuthera Island and The Bahamas but bring a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings from December to February. Though walking the streets in swim trunks in mid-January might sound tempting, beach attire is inappropriate on the streets, churches, restaurants, and casinos. Away from recreation areas you are expected to cover your bathing suit with shorts or a long shirt. In the more relaxed and remote areas the dress-code is more flexible.

British rules apply on Eleuthera Island so please drive your rental car on the left and be cautious on roundabouts.
